By Monk Fan
UPDATE (2/10/13): We are still using the storage bed, and we haven't had any issues. It still looks great and the drawers are in great shape (we don't put anything heavy)UPDATE: We have been using the bed and the matching headboard for 2+ years now, and we have not had any issue. The bed is really great and the drawers have not broken.I just ordered this storage bed from Amazon and received 3 boxes. My boyfriend assembled most of it (I worked on the drawers) in about 2 hours. The bed frame is really nice and you will not need a box-spring. The 6 drawers will give you lots of storage. However, the sides are sharp so be careful when you make the bed!

I paid $300 for this one. "You get what ya pay for" is what to consider when buyin this. The particleboard is Half inch thick material so it is not the strongest of frames and it is quite heavy. I used some angle brackets on the joining surfaces of the bed to help keep it together if I ever try to move it. I had a king size that broke when I attempted to relocate it. Do yourself a favor, got to the hardware store and buy 8- 2" corner braces and at least 32 half inch long wood screws(the screws that come w/ the braces will poke through the other side of the particle board) and use them on the cross pieces inside the frame that will hold the drawer sliders and the drawers. Use one on top and on on the bottom. The top one is tight, there's not much room on the topside of the bolt they give you to put it together(you'll see what I mean when you put the bed together) You also may want to put some sort of "feet" on it. I put self sticking sliders on mine, 4 on either side. This will help if you need to move it, and if it is on carpet it will help greatly. After I put the slats in that hold the mattress, I crosstaped the bed to make sure it was square, then I ran some inch and a quarter long wood screws through the center slat and through the outside set. This also helps keep this unit square when moving it again. This is not a very durable piece of furniture but for the money spent I'd do it again. Take the extra time to add some reinforcement and you should be OK...... Again! You do get what you pay for.

My wife and I absolutely love this bed. The minimal lines and appearance complement our Tempurpedic mattress nicely, and the support is excellent while still allowing good airflow around and beneath the mattress. The packages were quite heavy when they arrived, but also very sturdy. UPS had banged up some of the boxes substantially, but the contents were well protected. The main components are all mdf and particle board, but the assembly system is very strong as well as reusable, meaning I don't have to try and take this bed in one piece the next time we move. The actual mattress supports are 3/4" plywood supported by two crosspieces and secured at the ends by steel brackets. We have had no movement from bedframe or the mattress supports and they support my 6', 220 lb frame with no complaint.. The drawers are sturdy (solid wood sides and back) and surprisingly large. One drawback is that the drawers extend the length of the sides, so one drawer on each side will conflict with a nightstand if you have one. We use those drawers for seasonal storage that doesn't require frequent access. The assembly takes some time, especially the drawers, but the overall time estimate in the instructions is fairly accurate. I was able to assemble the bed myself, but recommend an assistant if you don't have a lot of experience as some parts will need simultaneous support when they are being attached and the plywood slats can be a little tricky to get into place all together. The instructions were clear, well illustrated, and fairly easy to understand.
